The County Clerk serves as record keeper for all official Public records which include Birth & Death, Real Property, Civil, Probate, Military Discharges and Misdemeanor Records. Also serves as Local Registrar for vital statistics records. The clerk is responsible for recording all documents for County Court and Commissioners Court and attends all court proceedings and recording all documents for County Court.
The County Clerk also contracts with Republican and Democratic parties to handle all election duties held at the county level.
The District Clerk is responsible for attending court proceedings and recording all documents for District Court including felony criminal, divorces and all civil suits filed in the office. Records are not on line at the present time.

The Recording Section Files Official Records including but not limited to: Real and Personal Property, Deeds, Liens, Deeds of Trust, Affidavits, Abstracts, Plats, Cattle Marks and Brands, Marriage, Birth, Death, Commissioners Court Minutes, Federal/State Tax Liens, Assumed Name Certificates, Military Discharge Records, Power of Attorney Filings, Trustee Notices, Meeting Notices, Certified Copies and other miscellaneous records.
Recording Fees
- $25.00 1st page;
- $4.00 2nd page for official public records.
Searches for birth and death records, civil and criminal records for both County and District Courts are performed upon receiving a written request for services. Search fees are $5.00 per name per court.
Criminal Department-County and District
The Criminal Section is responsible for filing and upkeep of all misdemeanor and felony records. All misdemeanor cases, such as DWI’s, theft by check, possession of marijuana, criminal trespass, tampering with government records, criminal searches , issued ARREST WARRANTS and subpoenas, and other miscellaneous duties.
The district clerk is responsible for felony and civil cases. The District Clerk also receives and reports payments of fines and court costs, reports dispositions to the Office of Court Administration and to the Texas Department of Public Safety and acts as the Clerk for the County Court at Law and the 8th Judicial District Criminal Court and the 62nd Judicial Civil Court.
Civil Section
The County Clerk files civil cases, Occupational Drivers Licenses, Civil Cases, Probate, Guardianship and Mental Commitments.
The District Clerk files divorce cases, civil cases, Attorney General, family law, occupational drivers license, tax suits.
